What is Asian Handicap betting in Football?
Asian Handicap is a form of betting made to even the playing field when it comes to odds. When there’s a big favourite, you might believe that one team will win by several goals. Without handicaps, that’s not possible to bet on.
This means you can bet on an underdog to not lose by more than 1 goal for example, which gives you better control while lowering your variance. There are many different types of Asian Handicap, and we want to show you what they mean. Be aware that we refer to them AH.
Refer to the table below for more information.
Asian Handicap 0
This is also known as Level Ball and Draw No Bet (DNB). Basically, if the team you bet on draws, you get your money back.
Remember to check the Draw No Bet odds on European Bookmakers, because there are instances where you can get better odds there. Usually the Asian Handicaps give better odds, but still, it’s worth a look. A lot of Euro bookmakers offer both, and in 99% of cases, the AH is better.
Asian Handicap 0.25
Here you can bet on a quarter of goal advantage or disadvantage for your team. That simply put means the bet is split in two. One half is on your team +/- 0.5 and the other is +/- 0. Which means that you either get half your money back if the match ends in a draw, or you win half the bet.
Asian Handicap 0.5
The +/- 0.5 means your team either starts with a half goal advantage or disadvantage. -0.5 is the same as betting on your team to win the match, while +0.5 is the same as betting on your team to draw or win. The latter is also known as a Double Chance.
Asian Handicap 0.75
This bet means your team either starts with a three quarter goal advantage or disadvantage. With +0.75 you win the bet if your team wins or draws, while a 1 goal loss means you lose half your stake. With a -0.75 you win the bet if your team wins by 2 or more, while a 1 goal win gets you a half win.
Asian Handicap 1
A +1 Asian Handicap means that you win the bet if your team wins or draws, and you get your money back if the team loses by 1. -1 means you win if your team wins by two or more, while a 1 goal win gives you the money back.
Where can I find Asian handicaps?
These days, Asian Handicaps can be found just about anywhere at any bookmaker, but they are the bread and butter of Asian Bookmakers, where margins are low, meaning you can earn more over time.
Pinnacle is a prominent example of a high-quality Asian Bookmaker, so be sure to check them out.
